We understand that this is an extremely difficult time at present and can be a challenging time for families of children with specialized needs such as medical and/or mental health concerns. Our physicians and clinical team strive to continue to support our patients and families

While our office is open, we are taking the following precautions in order to treat your children safely:

  • Please call our office to schedule an appointment, depending on your child’s symptoms you may be asked to speak to a physician before booking an appointment.
  • If you or your child have a cough, fever, shortness of breath or have been exposed to the Coronavirus please inform our staff before coming into our office.
  • Our office is not equipped to test for coronavirus.
  • To stay up to date on the most current information about COVID-19, we recommend checking these sites regularly:

We limit the use of email as a means of communication with the public or patients to appointment reminders with no information about medical diagnoses or other confidential information.  We do not use email:

  1. regarding questions or issues of a medical nature (other than to issue a reminder of an appointment with general directions/instructions); or
  2. for inquiries regarding fees, services or similar matters.

Therefore, we do not at this time send or respond to e-mail communications regarding such matters.

At times your physician may ask for photos or other information to be sent to the clinic; our Patient Portal upload link is the preferred method.

If you wish to contact us regarding medical questions or issues or to book an appointment, please do so by telephone (403) 252-6651.

Telephone prescription renewals, completion of most forms, medical assessments requested by 3rd parties (e.g. sports physical, camp physical), treatment of warts and some other services are not reimbursed through the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.  Fees for these services are posted and payment is expected at the time-of-service delivery.  If you require the service but cannot afford the posted fee, please discuss this with Kaleidoscope Pediatric Consultants staff or directly with your physician. Payments can be made by cash, debit card, credit card or cheque at the reception desk or by mail.

Please note that if your pediatrician is on an extended leave (i.e. maternity leave), working on-service at the hospital or is away from the clinic for any reason, a locum physician often takes over their practice for that period of time to ensure continued care for our patients. Please note that our locums are hand-selected based on their training and clinical expertise. Our clinic does our utmost to ensure that you are aware that there is a locum working for your usual physician, however, please be understanding as at time unforeseen circumstances arise that lead to short-term absences of your pediatrician.

Photos and documents may be uploaded using our Patient Portal. The upload form should be used only by existing patients or patients who have already been referred to us for a pending consultation. An appointment should be booked to discuss the photos or documents that you upload, unless that discussion has already happened.

Our patient portal is accessed by inputting your child’s health care number and date of birth to securely connect to our electronic medical records.

Documents may also be faxed to 403-640-0710

We do not accept any appointment requests, changes or cancellations using the portal.  Please call the office and speak to one of helpful staff members.

We do not refill prescriptions after the office has closed or on weekends. We ask that if your child is taking any chronic medications (i.e. Asthma, ADHD) you request refills during weekday office hours from your primary physician. Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice to complete your request. Of note, there may be a fee for such services that are provided out of typical appointment times.

Our clinic participates in teaching medical students and residents from family medicine and pediatric medicine from the University of Calgary as well as elective students or nurse practitioner trainees. This is an essential part of medical training and we our families and patients as teachers!

Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and family doctors are working together to ensure all Albertans have a medical home for their everyday health needs.

https://albertafindadoctor.ca/ is a great resource where you can search by location to find a doctor in your area who is accepting patients.

You can also call 811 to speak to an Information & Referral Specialist through their Navigation Service.

Please call our office if you feel that urgent assessment is necessary for your child. Some of these concerns can be relayed to our physicians and triaged so that our clinical team or the MD can directly contact via phone or book an appointment to discuss these concerns.

Please note that often our physicians have patients booked months in advance with limited urgent spots available. On rare occasions there will be a same-day cancellation and your child’s pediatrician or another pediatrician in our office may be able to see short notice.

A great resource for common childhood ailments/illnesses that cause discomfort but do not typically require emergency care is available via the Alberta Health Services HEAL (Health Education and Learning) website.

These resource documents have been created by Pediatric Emergency Medicine experts at the Alberta Children’s Hospital and Stollery Children’s Hospital for topics such as cough, fever, ear pain, vomiting, diarrhea, minor head injuries and nosebleed.

If you are in immediate need and your pediatrician is unable to see you, they may refer you to the Primary Care Centre located near Chinook Centre for a same-day appointment. This referral service is available from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
